Habitat for Humanity

United Church was delighted to join with seven other local churches to sponsor the building of a home during Habitat for Humanity’s annual Blitz Build. More than 25 UCH members donated almost 200 working hours to the project. These ambitious workers performed tasks ranging from swinging a hammer to sweeping floors to making lunches for on-site workers and performing administrative duties. In addition, the congregation gave a monetary offering to enable Habitat for Humanity to purchase the necessary building materials.

All these efforts were rewarded when the house keys were turned over to the owner of a new four bedroom home in northwest Huntsville. We have continued our support for the Huntsville-Madison County Habitat for Humanity Blitz Builds in 2005 and 2006, and plan to return next year to help another family build a new home.
