The Rev. John Barber became our church's Minister of Music in September 2006.
Before coming to the United Church of Huntsville, John lived in Cocoa, Florida, where he served a long tenure in musical ministry. Before that, he served congregations in Huntsville, Kentucky, and Indiana, after earning a B.S. degree at UAH and a Master of Church Music degree at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
He joined our church after returning to Huntsville in 2005, and his impressive musical skills quickly drew the attention of the congregation. He has treated the congregation to several unforgettable solo vocal performances, has substituted for Dr. Hurst in the pulpit, and has served in our choir. When the position of Minister of Music opened, John was the obvious choice to fill the job.
John is the very proud father of two girls, Brooke and Rebecca.
Our choir, which John directs, is open to both members and visitors to the United Church of Huntsville. He encourages those who are musically inclined as well as those who simply love music to participate in raising their voices in joy and praise during our services. |
