Senior Environmental Corps (SEC)

If you have a yen to do something for the planet and for the people who drink water drawn from Tennessee River Basin streams and rivers, this group’s for you.

A small group of church members and friends sample several Madison County streams each month, monitoring them for water quality. The group calls themselves the Senior Environment Corps and all have been trained by Alabama Water Watch as Certified Water Monitors. Some members of the SEC are also certified to do bacteriological monitoring. The data collected each month is posted by Alabama Water Watch on its web site and reported to ADEM (Alabama Department of Environmental Management).
