Sock and Glove Tree Each year in early December we decorate a Sock and Glove Tree. Members of the congregation come forward during the 11:00 AM service and decorate a bare tree with socks and gloves The “decorations” and monetary offerings are shipped to the Lakota Association of the South Dakota Conference. They are distributed to Native Americans who are members of the Lakota Sioux tribe. United Church began this tradition when our founding pastor, Ray Berry, and his wife Shirley, left Huntsville to work with the Lakota Sioux, in 1966.
