Special Occasions
In addition to fellowship time following both Sunday services, there are always other opportunities to gather for food and fun.
The church has put on several "mystery dinners", including “St. Cakes”, set in an English boarding school, and “Who Dunnit on the Prairie?”, set in a western town. Members of the congregation and visitors take on different roles in the plays while everyone tries to decide “Whodunnit?”. We have continued this delightful evening's entertainment this year, and look forward to hosting more in the future. It's a great chance for a fun night, with good food and deductive challenges for the attendees, while the participants enjoy the opportunity to ham it up as crime suspects and detectives.
The church also has several congregational lunches each year, as well as a soup and bread supper before the Ash Wednesday service.
We usually schedule several short educational, entertaining, and informative after-church presentations throughout the year, devoted to a variety of general-interest topics. Recent presentations have included a seminar on visiting sick friends (conducted by our Caregiving Committee), tips on avoiding the flu, and photo slideshows from the pastor's recent trip to Israel and Egypt.
At Christmas we enjoy a Wassail Bowl celebration, the Christmas play, and the Choir’s seasonal music presentation.
The congregation actively seeks occasions to be together and welcomes all visitors to share our hospitality and fellowship.
